Vesa Jolkkonen

Jolkkonen singing in the Tavastia Club in Helsinki, in Spring of 2015. The concert was part of the music education studies. Everyone had to play every instrument and everyone had to sing one song.



Vesa Jolkkonen was born on 1st December 1993 in Helsinki, Finland. From 2002 to 2012, he attended Mikkeli Music Institute. He studied guitar with Esa Hakkarainen, piano with Sampo Ståhlberg and music theory with Tiina Tamberg. He graduated from high school in 2012 and, at the same time, got a Music Institute diploma with excellent grades.
After high school, Jolkkonen completed his military service, serving in the Karelia Military Band. He was part of the Entertainment Band with six other conscripts, playing piano and guitar.
In 2013, Jolkkonen started music education studies at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. He is now studying guitar with Janne Malinen, piano with Hannu Lahtela, and singing with Jose Mäenpää. He has also participated in many master classes, of which the most important have been master classes of guitarist Andrzej Wilkus and pianist Teppo Koivisto.
Jolkkonen has performed in many kinds of events as pianist, guitarist, and singer. In his high school years, he played the piano in the Juva High School Musical Band. From 2008 to 2012, he was part of the Juva Guitar Quartet. He has also performed with the Karelia Military Band and accompanied singers, violinists and flutists.
